When the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs square off in Mexico City next season, it’ll be under the brightest lights. According to ESPN Mexico, the game will take place on November 19 as a Monday Night Football matchup.
Last season, the Patriots played the Raiders in Mexico City, which also happened to be held on November 19. That game, however, was a Sunday night showdown, broadcast on NBC. In 2016, the Texans and Raiders played in Mexico on November 21, which was a Monday night. It was the NFL’s first game in Mexico City since 2005.
If the report is true, it makes a lot of sense. The date (Nov. 19) matches up well with previous editions of the NFL’s Mexico City games, and the fact that it’ll be in primetime also follows suit.
As for the game itself, it’ll feature the returns of both Sammy Watkins and Marcus Peters, who will play their former teams for the first time since leaving. It’ll also pit two great young quarterbacks – Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes – against each other, while Todd Gurley and Kareem Hunt are also two of the best at their respective positions.
