We’re still two years away from the Rams moving into their new stadium in Inglewood, Calif., as construction is well underway. It’s expected to be one of the most spectacular venues in all of sports once completed, and for the cost it’ll take to build, it better be.
While the stadium itself is expected to cost about $2.6 billion, the overall price tag of the entire development is significantly higher. According to ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, that number is approaching $5 billion.
That’s an astronomically high cost, even if the development does have a footprint of a whopping 298 acres. Of course, the Rams aren’t the only ones paying for it as the Chargers will share the venue, but that doesn’t make it any easier to fathom.
For comparison’s sake, AT&T Stadium in Arlington cost about $1.2 billion to construct, which is still less than half of what the Rams’ stadium will cost alone. Needless to say, the new Inglewood site will blow every other arena out of the water when it comes to cost.
